KITCHEN COOK JOB SUMMARY This section describes the positions basic purpose or mission. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of nutritious, attractive, and economical meals for serving in the Cafeteria. Assist with operations of the entire cafeteria including kitchen area, dining hall, and Susanna Wesley room/kitchen in accordance with all applicable regulations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS This section describes up to six major elements of the job, listed in order of importance. The description includes what is done, why it is done and an estimate of the total working time the incumbent spends on each task. Cook healthy and appetizing meals as assigned. Perform cafeteria housekeeping and maintenance. Work flexible hours (between 5 am to 7 pm) as determined by the supervisor. Perform other non-routing tasks as assigned by supervisor. Adhere to all conditions specified in the policies and procedures manual. Performs other duties as assigned. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES This section describes the major accountabilities for the position. An accountability statement has a bottom-line orientation that often will encompass several essential job functions as listed above Serves healthy, attractive and appetizing meals. Maintains pristine housekeeping throughout the cafeteria complex. Presents a friendly, courteous and helpful front to all cafeteria customers. EDUCATION What is the minimum level of formal education required? Minimum of one (1) year experience in similar position preferred. JOB REQUIREMENTS/OTHER SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE What other training and/or certification are necessary? Possess current Louisiana Food Safety Certification. Some computer skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS What are the physical demands and working conditions of this job? (i.e. travel, lbs. lifted) Physical Demands/Working Conditions Kitchen Environment-constantly exposed toheat,cold, slipperysurfaces and working with appliancessuch as stove, oven, dishwasher, cooking top, as well as housekeeping and cleaning tools Light to Heavy lifting from lbs.
