Job Description SYGMA is now seeking to hire a Fleet Supervisor for our Columbus, OH Distribution Center This is an Operations position responsible for supervising the company shop and shop personnel for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of the SYGMA fleet. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in repairs and replacement. Knowledge of vehicle operations and safety guidelines. Proficient in the use of all tools of the trade and shop equipment and power tools including but not limited to jacks, hydraulic lifts, air tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to follow both written and verbal direction and work at a reasonably fast pace. Supervises all fleet service employees; trains, evaluates and disciplines employees. Implements and monitors a preventative maintenance program to ensure cost effective maintenance pursuant to manufacturers' specification. Keeps records of vehicle maintenance and repairs. Keeps records of vehicle-related expenditures vehicle-related, repair parts, supplies, etc. Monitors fleet utilization. Examines reports for accuracy on fleet vehicles and prepares reports on vehicle utilization and maintenance. Assists in the development of the fleet services budget to include a review of past year income and expenses; adjusts and administers all fleet service purchases, including parts, tools, and office supplies. Checks all repair work performed in a shop for completeness. This includes physical inspections and road tests. Implements and maintains a mechanic training and certification program to ensure mechanics have required technical skills. Ensures adherence to all company and safety rules, policies, and procedures. Ensures compliance with outside agencies (e.g. O.S.H.A., F.D.A., U.S.D.A., A.I.B., D.O.T., and E.F.C.) Responsible for staying current with technical manuals, literature, and technical advancements of the trade as it pertains to company-owned vehicles. Performs work in other classifications when incidental but necessary to accomplish work assignment. Performs all other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to perform each primary duty and responsibility satisfactorily Must have a high school diploma/GED or equivalent in experience ASE Certification required 3-5 years of experience in the truck mechanic field including roadside and diesel engine experience Previous supervisory experience Ability to read interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is medium to heavy in nature. The employee must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. - 75 lbs. occasionally. Repair work requires excellent hand and finger dexterity. There may be sufficient noise requiring the employee to shout in order to be heard. You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction. Trailer backing and forklift operation require distance vision. In addition, you must be able to perform manual tasks, talk or hear, stand, kneel, sit, reach, bend, communicate and interact with others. WORK ENVIRONMENT Activities occur both inside (protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside. The employee is periodically exposed to varying climates with temperature ranges from zero to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. Hazardous conditions exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and working in high places . EQUIPMENT OPERATED Forklift, floor scrubber, and pallet jack.
