Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for planning and supervising all aspects of loading and unloading of vessels. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1) Plan and manage operation personnel and resources in an efficient and cost – efficient manner 2) Manage ILA performance, duty assignment and disciplinary action 3) Manage and plan all ship operations to the highest level of performance 4) Follow operational procedures and processes to OSHA and Corporate standards 5) Insure safe marine operations and promote safety in all departments 6) Assist Marine Manager in day to day operations 7) Cross train with all departments (Yard, CFS, Rail, Gate) KEY PERFORMANCE STANDARDS 1) Respond to all marine e-mail request within 1 hour of request 2) Insure accuracy of data input’s to TOS, Sparcs and billing documents 3) Timely and accurate submission of payrolls, logs, reports and required vessel paperwork 4) Maintain budgetary controls 5) Maintain vessel productivity standards QUALIFICATIONS 1) Work experience 3 - 5 years in maritime industry. College graduate preferred. 2) Marine terminal, equipment control, and container vessel experience is preferred. 3) Physical ability required to climb on equipment and cargo. 4) Good communication and math skills. 5) Good problem solving skills and ability to multi-task. 6) Ability to make quick decisions in a high stress environment. 7) Working knowledge of Hazardous Materials regulations. 8) Working knowledge of Container vessel stowage, Office Applications, and general office equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS 1) Heavy use of computer systems (Container stowage systems/TOS/Network and PC applications). 2) Heavy use of phone, copiers, computers and computer printers. 3) Physical work with exposure to environmental elements. 4) Ability to work any combination of 24/7 shifts including weekends and holidays 5) Ability to perform duties within stressful environments ADA REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Position requires heavy to very-heavy work, occasionally exerting 75-100 pounds of force and operating primarily in an outside environment often unprotected fro elements.
