Job Description Summary: The chief pilot/aviation dept. manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the overall operations of the aircraft and aviation office and will report to the President. This is a two pilot, 1 airplane operation flying 250 hours per year. The ideal candidate should possess strong people management, leadership, and professional skills and experience. Exceptional problem-solving skills, training and coaching experience, and excellent customer service skills is a must. This successful person’s key responsibilities include: safety, running a cost effective operation and employee retention. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / REQUIREMENTS: Develops budgets for the operation for flight planning: (domestic and international) – Budget for each flight; Reviews all flight invoices compared to budget. Authorizes and pays invoices; Assumes the responsibility for the safety and operational control of all flights conducted under 14 CFR Part 91; Ensures proper training and currency of pilots for the type of operations they conduct; Develops and revises the Company's training program; Maintains proper training documentation; Interviews and hires crewmembers; Conducts flight training and check rides for company pilots; Manages pilots' time-off requests; Performs annual pilots' evaluations; Selects, trains and supervises flight instructors and check airmen. Conducts initial and recurrent training. Conducts periodic observations of these personnel to ensure compliance with Company standards and Federal Regulations. Manages the day-to-day activities of flight crew members in cooperation with Flight Operations, Human Resources and Payroll; When necessary may serve as Ground and Flight Instructor and Check Airman; Arranges for fingerprinting and drug testing of new-hires; (if required) Reviews and certifies training records; Negotiates contracts with outside training providers; Orders and distributes navigational material; keeps the inventory. Position requirements: 3-5 years of people management and leadership experience Bachelor’s Degree or higher Training and coaching experience Staying current with federal and local flight regulations Must be willing to fly internationally and at night Must have strong administration skills Exceptional problem-solving and planning skills Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant office software Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate ratings and be qualified to serve as PIC 5,000 flight hours 1,500 hours of PIC experience Class I Medical Meet FAA 135 Chief Pilot experience requirements Type rating preferred Jet pilot in command 500 minimum airplane hours required No accidents, incidents or FAA enforcement action.
