Bay Ltd. is currently seeking experienced Pipe Layers for the Highway Division. This position is responsible for laying pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains, and may perform tasks such as: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints. The Pipe Layer will also strive to uphold Bay Ltd.’s culture of Safety, Quality and Production. JOB DUTIES: Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels. Cut pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue. Weld metal components. Apply adhesive to construction materials. Cover pipes with earth or other materials. Spread sand, dirt, or other loose materials onto surfaces. Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems. Install plumbing or piping. Maintain plumbing structures or fixtures. Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing. Install plumbing or piping. Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers. Evaluate projects to determine compliance with technical specifications. Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors. Mark reference points on construction materials. Communicate with other construction or extraction personnel to discuss project details. Grade or level trench bases, using tamping machines or hand tools. Operate equipment or vehicles to clear construction sites or move materials. Dig trenches to required depths, by hand or using trenching tools. Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices. Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement. Other duties assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Use safety equipment 100% of the time and work in a safe manner. Must possess a strong work ethic. Must be able to be work long, non-routine hours when necessary. Ability to read and write safety information. 2-5 years of experience. General knowledge of construction plans, sketches, and blueprints. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to lift heavy objects. Assist in the overall cleanliness and organization of the work area, jobsite, and equipment: including tools, trucks, and trailers.
