Part time position available (40 hours biweekly) for a flight and/or ground Critical Care Transport Paramedic to provide care to critically ill and injured patients in accordance with JeffSTATs treatment protocols and standards of care. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic is responsible for completing patient care records, detailing patient assessment and any treatment rendered during transport and the patient's outcome following interventions.
Provides continuous education to patients and their families with regards to the transport process, any interventions performed during transport and the events that will transpire when patient arrives at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital or other receiving facility. Additionally, on a daily basis, the Critical Care Transport Paramedic inspects medical equipment for proper functioning; inspects quality of medical supplies; completes ambulance inventory checklist; completes refrigerator temperature log; completes glucometer control testing.
Minimum of four (4) years of previous experience in a ground or air critical care transport program or busy 9-1-1 system are required. Previous work in the hospital environment is highly recommended. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic shall possess exemplary customer service and critical thinking skills and shall be experienced and proficient in performing advanced life support skills such as intubation, IV insertion, medication administration, EKG interpretation, chest decompression, and NG/OG tube insertion. Current Pennsylvania Department of Health Paramedic (EMT-P) and National Registry Paramedic (NREMT-P) is required as are current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS. Certification as Flight Paramedic-Certified (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic-Certified (CCP-C) are required within one (1) year of hire; NRP, PHTLS, ATLS audit or TNATC are required within six (6) months of hire.
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
