Lanakila Pacific is a local 501c3 non-profit that is a family of programs and services designed to help build independence and an improved quality of life for individuals with cognitive, social, physical, or age related challenges.
Lanakila Pacific operates out of two primary facilities leased from the State of Hawaii and a warehouse on leased property, In addition, we work on and at least fifteen other worksites that are shared with or on the property of other programs.
Assists with the general cleaning and care of the buildings and keeping it maintained and in good condition. Performs janitorial duties and assists with the general maintenance work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures. Refill restroom dispensers.
Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; and replace light bulbs.
Wash accessible interior and exterior windows and glass. Clean blinds.
Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings and events.
Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed.
Assists in maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Performs minor repairs, light carpentry and painting.
Assists with maintaining inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
Launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work assignments may involve working indoors or outdoors depending on work location and duties. While performing the assigned job duties, the employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, in high places, (and) in outside weather conditions (wet, humid and/or hot), and occasionally may be exposed to risk of electrical shock.
Generally, works Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, however, may be required to work outside of normal business hours.
Tools and equipment including but not limited to custodial equipment (mop, vacuum, etc.) and supplies, cleaning chemicals, power tools, wrenches, clamps, task knives, sanding equipment, flooring equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be issued and required to be used at all times.
Cleaning chemicals and dispensers.
Use of company vehicle if required to travel to other sites.
Industry Knowledge: No prior experience of training required.
Communication: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees in the organization.
Relationship Management: Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of people.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technology: Ability to use basic equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to read and comprehend warning labels and manufacturer’s instructions.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract, preferred.
Previous experience in custodial work preferred.
Previous experience in general building maintenance and/or knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and custodial work, preferred.
Knowledge of safety practices related to custodial or maintenance work, preferred.
