Job Overview


Project Engineer for McCullough Allen Construction Partners. The primary responsibility will be to aid in project management and organization at various, multi-family renovation projects through owner's representation and oversight of the General Contractor's work. The selected individual will be responsible for helping oversee that preconstruction and construction activities meet specifications, schedules, safety and financial benchmarks at multiple project sites simultaneously.

Essential Tasks and Duties

Preconstruction Coordination

  • Work with pre-construction team to inspect existing multi-family projects. Includes inspection of all interior units, common areas, building exteriors and site. Work with other construction team members to prepare corresponding databases for scope matrixWork with Project Managers, Development team members and the Owner to establish program priorities
  • Work with pre-construction team to prepare general construction cost estimates
  • Work with pre-construction team to ensure that the value engineering process remains aligned with the scope of work in the Owner's Program
  • Review general contractor bid packages and architectural plans as they are developed and provide edits and feedback to both to ensure conformity with expectations and the Owner's Program
  • Assist in oversight of general contractor during pre-construction, review of deliverables and ensure requirements of pre-construction agreement are met
  • Work with Development, Relocation staff, Owner and General Contractor to determine most viable plan for resident relocations during construction

  • Coordination
  • Ensure that the schedules for each individual project are being carried out according to plan
  • Process, review, approve & manage RFIs, ASIs, Shop Drawings, Product Data, Samples and other submittals by the Owner and Architect on multiple open construction projects
  • Procure and manage GC's daily logs activities on each site to include weather, subs on site, work accomplished, verbal conversations with Superintendent, specific observations of the work on that day and any occurrence or work that might result in a claim for a change in the Contract Sum or Contract Time, and any problems encountered
  • If directed, accompany lender and investor appointed inspectors during their monthly site visits and respond to their inquiries
  • Obtain costs for changes from GC and review with Project Managers for approval
  • Reports to Project Managers any problems related to construction and makes recommendations to alleviate them
  • Work with Project Managers to review & approve General Contractor's monthly payment applications
  • Aids Project Manager in ensuring each project meets both site and resident safety requirements
  • Shall attend all daily, weekly and monthly meetings and/or conference calls with the project team, including daily correspondence with the Contractor's Superintendent and Client Representative
  • Works with Contractor's Site Superintendent to oversee the completion of punch-list items
  • Manages photos for all jobs and labels/organizes on construction server for ease of reference for construction and development teams
  • Organize weekly and monthly Construction Meetings; take and distribute notes/action items and update smartsheets as required
  • Attend OAC meetings and prepare related correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes as required by construction team

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • At least two to three years of experience in commercial and/or multi-family construction management (rehabilitation is preferred)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam Revu
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Thorough knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements
  • Maintain current certifications for First Aid and CPR
  • Demonstrate a mastery of skills in these areas: managing site activity, labor relations, anticipating and resolving field related issues, establishing and enforcing site schedule requirements, managing site safety and insurance risks, interpersonal skills and leadership

Additional Responsibilities and Duties

  • Follow all company policies and procedure
  • Travel to construction locations as required
  • Overtime as necessary
  • Possession of a valid Washington Driver's License, a good driving record, and automobile insurance per requirements of the State of Washington
  • Ability to work with individuals and/or groups, both in a public and private arena. Contacts will include public agency officials, housing development professionals, representatives of the business and financial community and community-based groups
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders at project sites
  • Ability to make decisions under time and budget constraints (a lot of rehab work has unforeseen conditions)
  • Ability to communicate thoroughly with all parties (GC, Owner) and make decisions that are both timely and cost effective
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary
  • Must always be able to maintain a professional appearance
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple construction projects


  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

Working Conditions

Work generally conducted at multiple construction sites. When visiting project sites, applicant may be exposed to varying environmental conditions (e.g. outdoor weather, dirt, dust, mud, and other construction work-site hazards and hazards associated with urban construction).
