Summary

:

Customer service by distributing material, and products within the establishment, and stocking material by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned that are not listed within this description.
  • Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Directs customer to appropriate location for loading or off-loading.
  • Operates band saw or hand torch to cut material to specified lengths to fill customer order.
  • Returns remnant items to proper location and marks or color codes to identify material type.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and loads material on customers' vehicle.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or other specified areas.
  • Operates fork lift, truck, or crane to move, convey, or hoist material for shipments, will call, processing or storage and tarps material to protect if required.
  • Marks or tags materials with identifying information.
  • Opens bundles, crates and other containers.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product.
  • Inspects and counts items while stocking or distributing within plant to ensure conformance to company standards. Also stencils or color codes identifying information.
  • Prepares parcels for UPS. Maintains inventory records and stock verification.
  • Keeps work area and equipment neat, clean, organized and safe.
  • Performs tasks outside normal job description and assists other departments and employees in order to provide the customer with the best quality service possible.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

No prior experience or training

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to read measuring tools such as tape measure, sheet gauge, protractor, square calipers, micrometer.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
