Barclays is seeking to add experienced mid-level bankers (with 2-5 years of experience) to its Transportation & Infrastructure Project Finance team. The opportunity involves working on innovative and highly structured transactions for a wide range of clients including major municipalities and government entities across a variety of financing mandates. The ideal candidate would be familiar with DBC and Microsoft Excel to run financial modeling and credit structuring, have interest in the growing U.S. transportation and infrastructure sectors and be prepared for an important team role, including developing complex financial models, drafting RFPs (Request for Proposals) responses, creating detailed client books and preparing live market materials. The candidate would lead a team of analysts to address and achieve client objectives.

Barclays' Transportation & Infrastructure Project Finance Group Based in New York, our Transportation & Infrastructure Project Finance group is part of Barclays' leading Public Finance platform and works seamlessly across all Investment Banking and Public Finance product groups. Public Finance sits within our Municipal Finance business and combines Investment Banking; Underwriting, Sales and Trading; Strategy and Research; and Derivative Products into one unit dedicated to serving the municipal securities market. Our client base consists of state and local governments, major departments of transportation, airports, ports, healthcare systems, universities, non-profit organizations and corporates in these related fields. Our group is dedicated to the transportation sector, focusing on large, complex opportunities in Debt Capital Markets for major domestic airport, ports, transit and major transportation networks. The Role The Associate/AVP will deepen his or her understanding of the Public Finance Investment Banking business by providing cross-functional assistance to senior bankers and through managing and mentoring of junior staff. He or she will participate actively in various Debt Capital Markets transactions and assist in the sourcing of new business opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Performing financial modeling and cash flow analyses to evaluate debt financing alternatives for municipal/governmental entities (utilizing DBC and Microsoft Excel)
Drafting RFPs (Requests for Proposals) responses discussing financing strategies, debt structuring, market trends and Barclays' qualifications
Developing and processing client pitch books, including regular customized industry update pages, product product-specific pages, including slides suggesting various options for debt refinancing given clients' existing financial profiles in addition to assisting the team with client-specific offering documents
Aggregating, analyzing, and presenting financial data (e.g., government budgets and financial reports, economic/market data, financial forecasts, pricing results, among others)
Performing debt profile mapping as well as refunding and new money issuance analyses
Researching legislative, market or other developments relevant to our municipal clients
Executing and advising on transactions, which includes managing transaction logistics, running cash flows, drafting investor and rating agency presentations and assisting in the preparation and negotiation of financing and project documents, as necessary
Assisting in maintaining the team's detailed transaction pipeline
Becoming comfortable liaising with external parties and all groups within Barclays, including within the Public Finance division and across the Investment Bank
Graduated from a nationally or globally recognized top undergrad school with strong credentials
2-5 years of experience in Investment Banking, particularly in Public Finance and/or Transportation roles
Experience with Debt Capital Markets and structuring of financing alternatives
Experience with DBC to structure new issuances and refundings and with Microsoft Excel to create dynamic financial models
Excellent PowerPoint skills and the ability to effectively assemble responses to RFPs and client books
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong quantitative abilities, particularly with respect to bond math and credit analysis is preferred
Strong entrepreneurial spirit, positive attitude, intellectual curiosity and ability to work independently
Strong ability to multitask while exhibiting a high level of attention to detail
Ability to manage a motivated team of analysts and liaise directly with senior bankers
