Job Overview

Peninsula Prestress Company sells and manufactures prestress concrete bridge beams for the Great Lakes area. The State of Michigan alone has over 1200 bridges listed in poor condition. Our customers are bridge builders and we work closely with end users and their designers. Peninsula is a privately owned company. It's owners / operators, managers, and employees represent over 30 years of experience in the industry. Current manufacturing facility is located on the southwest side of Grand Rapids, in Wyoming Michigan. Our facility is a PCI-Certified Plant by the Prestress / Precast Concrete Institute, and is a pre- approved supplier for multiple state's Department of Transportation.

Our engineered product is fabricated as project specific as designed by the owner's engineer. The designs closely follow the specification guide lines from the following entities:

  • Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT)
  • Indiana Department of Transportation (InDOT)
  • American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO)
  • American Concrete Institute (ACI)
  • Michigan Concrete Association (MCA)
  • Precast / Prestress Concrete Institute (PCI)

Our Quality control personnel are required to be certified by:

  • PCI
  • ACI
  • MCA

Position Title: Quality Control Manager

Reports to: Plant Manager

The objective of the Quality Control Manager is to direct, coordinate, and the evaluation of the quality control department. The QC Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assigning and training of all new employees. Planning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and addressing complaints and creating resolutions. Develop the skills and knowledge to manage all aspects of the Quality Control Department. Operate the safest facility, produce the highest quality product, at the lowest practical cost.

Required Skill Sets:

  • Personnel leadership skills
  • Development of personnel
  • Raw material certification and traceability
  • Ensure the highest product quality
  • Reading and understanding design and shop drawings
  • Understanding of concrete mix designs
  • Computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe formatting
  • DOT processes, rules, regulation, and specifications
  • PCI processes, rules, regulation, and specifications

  • Proven work history in Quality Control / Quality Assurance field

Preferred Education: Engineering or Construction Management Degree
