Altom Transport Inc, truck mechanics are extensively trained on class 8 tank trucks and product transferring equipment. Our high-end Peterbilt fleet is equipped with the latest Cummins and Paccar engines. Turning the wheels is Allison and Eaton's automatic transmissions. Mechanics are expected to be diligent and thorough with their diagnostics and repairs. A candidate would be familiar with Cummins engine diagnostic and repairs, as well as all DEF and DPF after-treatment systems. The candidate should be familiar with disc brakes and Bendix ABS systems and software. Candidates would be required to perform DOT inspections and must have strong knowledge of the department of transportation rules and regulations. Product transferring equipment and hydraulic experience is a major plus. We install, repair, and rebuild the most reliable Pumping, valve, and filtration products on the market. The candidate would possess the knowledge to diagnose and repair hydraulic components such as PTO, Pumps, coolers, lines, and valves. * Must be highly motivated that works as a strong team member under the direct supervision of the Shop Foreman and terminal manager.
* Responsible for preventive maintenance and general repairs of Class 8 Tank trucks and light-duty company vehicles
* Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company, and any other Federal, State, or Local regulations
* Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure the equipment is up to Altom and the manufacturers specifications.
* Regular attendance is required.
* Maintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment.

Requirements

* High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or any combination of education, which would provide an equivalent background.
* 18 + years of age
* Must have a minimum of one year experience and/or completion of trade school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Must possess your own general set of tools and be able to operate all shop tools and test equipment.
* Should have extensive knowledge of heavy truck repairs in a commercial environment to ensure equipment is operating to its highest state of efficiency.
* Must possess the ability to keep up with changing technology and updates.
* Possess mechanical ability and interest of Fleet maintenance, electronics, computer systems, and liquid bulk transferring equipment.
* Must possess the strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment.
* Physical activities include walking, lifting up to 100lbs, twisting, turning, standing for a long period of time, climbing a ladder, etc.
* A valid CDL and acceptable MVR are required if driving heavy equipment on public roads. If a CDL holder must be registered with the FMCSA and possess a valid medical card.
* Should be extremely motivated, clean and organized.
* Must possess a strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills.
* Must be willing to work in any weather condition, overtime and flexible work schedule can present itself at times.
* Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, and procedures.
* Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
* Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations/procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines.
* Must pass a pre-employment strength test, drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check.
