Cajal is seeking a supply chain and finance associate motivated by Cajal's mission to develop new medicines for patients with neurodegenerative disorders. As a supply chain and finance associate at Cajal, you will be responsible for on-site activities from sourcing and procurement through accounts payable, as well as adjacent accounting and financial reporting activities based on experience and willingness.
You will report to our Chief Operating Officer but work closely with staff members across all functions.
Conduct and optimize our laboratory procurement operations in support of our research activities Initiate and monitor orders (with purchase orders as warranted) and ensure on-time delivery of all materials Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and availability/schedule Manage inventory for common-use stockroom supplies Process accounts payable while ensuring appropriate segregation of duties and secondary approvals Maintain the fixed asset register and support depreciation calculations Assist with monthly accounting and semiannual budgeting, with precise scope dependent upon experience Set up processes and tools that will evolve and scale with the company; support rigor without imposing rigidity
This job might be great for you if you: Have 3-5 years of biotech or related industry procurement and/or accounts payable experience Have proficiency in Microsoft Office products with advanced Excel skills Are detail-oriented and thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented startup environment Love working in a research environment, are organized, and take pride in your work Have a BA, BS or equivalent in a biology-related field or in accounting. MBA a plus.
