Rail/Intermodal manager will act as a liaison between Samsung SDS and railways/IMC carriers. The Intermodal Manager will negotiate contracts with railways /IMC carriers in order to optimize capacity and value to Samsung SDS end customers. The Intermodal Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing commercial and operational aspects for the organization in while multitasking in the dynamic transportation environment.
Negotiate rates with the railway companies and intermodal carriers, drayage capacities, establish KPI standards and effectively communicate findings with clients and carriers
Prepare the sourcing plan and acquire additional intermodal capacities during the peak season
Manage and prepare a reply to the RFPs that include any rail freights
Perform regular sourcing projects' result evaluations to determine areas of improvement
Communicate and manage the work closely with members of the Pricing and Management teams to achieve goals set for transit, capacity, and price margins
Research the required knowledge of all aspects of intermodal transportation including key industry challenges in executing domestic and ISO shipments
Analyze the customer or sales team's requirements to prepare for the sourcing events like hiring trucking carriers, warehousing service providers, freight forwarders, and etc.
Utilize the previous experiece as an Intermodal Manager securing contracts directly with carriers
Understands and manages contractual commitments
Review price compilation charts and metrics to ensure new cost-saving opportunities to implement.
Align the overall product(s) strategy with the Pricing and Contract Strategy at the customer level
Be compliance with DOT trucking regulations and safety policies
Identify additional logistics partners and evaluate carriers to fit the business needs
Bachelor's Degree required
10+ years of industry experience in intermodal transportation management/planning required
Effective Communication skills and ability to effectively bridge communication issues.
Proactive demeanor and strong attention to detail
Strong analytical skills with high competence in data handling with accuracy
Ability to relate to and build relationships with people at all levels of an organization (Sales, Operations, Finance, and customers)
Ability to travel up to 10% in domestic and international (mostly Canada and Mexico)
Work experience in the in the business management/planning job, Samsung or Samsung's partner companies will be a plus.
Proficient with Outlook, Microsoft Office applications PowerPoint, Word, Excel for handling quotation and cost analysis.
