Leading Aerospace company in search of Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Summary: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of employees engaged in manufacturing planning / engineering, plant layout planning, tool design, manufacturing methods analysis, the manufacturing process, facilities and equipment; the standard data collection / analysis, and of time studies; special studies for process or product improvement, methods improvement, cost analysis and manufacturing. Stays up to date on engineering changes and modifications by customers, Contracts Department, and Operations. Performs related work as required. Plans sequence of own activities subject to direction from the CEO and COO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in addition to the following and all other duties as may be assigned:
Manages the preparation of estimates of the cost of manufacturing proposed new products; participates in and assists with the preparation of cost estimates for the more complex or unusual new products; and suggests design changes, as necessary, to facilitate manufacture, improve quality, or reduce costs. Directs the development of manufacturing processes and equipment for new products; directs the continuing review, revision, and improvement of processes and equipment for existing products; and participates in finding solutions to the more complex and unusual problems relating to manufacturing processes. Directs the establishment of standard data for use in determining production rates; directs the establishment of the production rates based on both standard data and time study; and participates in resolving disputes involving production rates. Directs the review and analysis of daily production efficiency reports to identify cases where the standard, the performance, the tools, or other elements of production appear to be unsatisfactory. Supervises the rendering of advice and assistance to manufacturing departments in regards to the solution of manufacturing difficulties; participates in finding solutions to the more complex manufacturing problems that arise; confers with engineers where design problems are involved. Assigns special studies and projects relating to plant layouts, equipment, product and process improvements, cost reduction, and the like to manufacturing engineers; outlines scope, objectives, and approach to be taken for such projects; review progress from time to time; and reviews results. May present findings to management for consideration. Interviews, selects, and hires personnel for key manufacturing engineering positions; participates in reviewing the performance of key personnel and in recommending salary adjustment where merited; provide counsel to employees on performance deficiencies; recommends transfers, promotions, and separations as required. Reviews proposed budgets prepared by subordinates and suggests revisions as necessary. Directs the analysis of material-handling requirements and the design and/or development of improved or special material-handling equipment as required. Introduce new and revised Manufacturing Engineering techniques into operations to improve continuously the services available to the company. Supervisory Responsibilities : This job requires the direct supervision of salary and hourly employees.

Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience : Graduation from an approved college or university with major studies in mechanical engineering and including a complete set of courses in industrial engineering; or the equivalent combination of progressively responsible experience and formal training in addition to eight years’ experience described below. Knowledge of methods and standards engineering, time study, plant layout, and process engineering work is required. Thorough knowledge of industrial engineering principles and practices; thorough knowledge of the methods, processes, tools and equipment involved in the manufacturing division products; ability to plan, organize and direct the development of effective operations and processes for a relative complex manufacturing operation. The quality and timeliness of recommendations to immediate supervisor are a direct measure of the performance of the Manager Manufacturing Engineering.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MAPICS manufacturing software; MS Excel spreadsheet software, MS Word, and Word Processing software.
Other Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, an individual must have prior experience in managing a team of industrial Manufacturing Engineers.
